3D EEG and Clinical Evidence of Brain Dying. Preliminary Report

چکیده
Determination of brain dying means reversible or irreversible injury to the brain, including brainstem. Current guidelines rely on clinical examination proof coma, absent stem reflexes, and apnoea test. Neurophysiological testing using electroencephalography evoked potentials — somatosensory brainstem auditory potential could have been helpful in final diagnostic death conclusion, but accuracy these methods last years has revealed controversies. Here, we present data quantitative EEG signal evaluation (qEEG) by a 3-dimensional mapping (3D BM) as developing tool clarify whether transverse anterior posterior coherences such connectivity indices may demonstrate connection transversal dimensions with «wavelet transformation» if 3D BM visualization representative signals improve informative value quantification when evaluating dying. The purpose our work is provide an update evidence controversies use for determining raise discussion applications transplantation program. Results. We analyzed records 10 patients admitted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during September, 2017 August, 2018. Data from one patient, ŽM, 33 old, after haemorrhagic shock (August 2018) were details. Quantitative dynamics images course monitored prior amantadine sulfate intravenous administration revival. demonstrated ability survive; cause was heart failure. Conclusion. confirm hope survival coma capability keep functionally optimal state good social adaptation.

متن کاملBrain death or brain dying?
For the past 50 years, the medical profession has understood ‘‘brain death’’ to represent the endpoint of a neuropathologic vicious cycle. An initial major brain injury sets off a mutually exacerbating cascade of cerebral edema, increased intracranial pressure, and decreased cerebral blood flow, which advances beyond some point-of-no-return to a state of no cerebral blood flow and total brain i...

A. Digital EEG is an established substitute for recording, reviewing, and storing a paper EEG record. It is a clear technical advance over previous paper methods. It is highly recommended. (Class III evidence, Type C recommendation). B. EEG brain mapping and other advanced QEEG techniques should be used only by physicians highly skilled in clinical EEG, and only as an adjunct to and in conjunct...

Background: Muscle fatigue has been known to influence brain activity, but very little is known about how cortical centers respond to muscle fatigue. Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of muscle contraction and fatigue induced by two different percents of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) on Electroencephalography (EEG) signals.Material and Methods: In t...
